Preetam Banerjee was emanated in a musical family . Preetam was a child prodigy. He was initiated to sitar at the age of nine years by his grandfather Late Amritalal Banerjee, a senior disciple of Ustad Enayat Khan ( the father of legendary sitarist Ustad Vilayat Khan). He was also under tutelage of legendary Pandit Surashree Kalyani Roy ( disciple of Ustad Vilayat Khan) and sarode maestro Pandit Buddhadeb Dasgupta. Presently he is fortunate for being a senior disciple of Pandit Kushal Das.
His soulful and dexterous performances have evoked praise and admiration in various music festivals in India and abroad. Awards and accolades came his way early in life. He has been awarded first position in The Doverlane Music Competition , West Bengal State Music Academy, Geetika Music Competition. At the age of 12, he started performing in Radio and Television. He has also received the honour of Sangeet Visharad by achieving 1st class 1st gold medalist from Nikhil Bharat Sangeet Kala Samiti. Preetam is a graded artist in All India Radio.
Preetam has performed in many prestigious musical festivals in India and abroad.

Preetam has conducted many workshops and lecture demonstration on Indian classical music and sitar with Anubhab Academy Germany and Surtal Asian Music U.K. He has a large number of students all over the globe.
