Born in a family of renowned legendary classical musicians of Benaras gharana & grew up in a musical ambience and rich cultural heritage of the historical city of Kashi (Varanasi) India.
His reverend father, Late Pt. Mithu Lal Mishra was himself an accomplished artist of harmonium and classical vocal music.
Right from his childhood, Rajesh started learning music from his maternal grandfather Late Pt.Hanuman Prasad Mishra and his famous maternal uncles, Pt. Rajan and Sajan Mishra. He was then trained on the Tabla under the able guidance of Late Pt. Mannu Lal Mishra, and went on to become an accomplished Tabla player.
He further displayed his depth as an accomplished Tabla artist when he performed as accompanist for Kathak Dance, Flaminco Dance, concerts at the famous Rudosladt Festival, Toolwood Festival, Munchen Festival, Singen Festival and Ulm Festival all over Europe during 1997.
Rajesh has also been actively involved with SPIC MACAY since 1987, and has given Lecdems in almost every city in India, and continues to contribute towards the growth and the cause of SPIC MACAY.
Rajesh Mishra's performances have received high acclaim and applause by music lovers all over India and abroad. He is now regarded as an epitome of the young generation of high caliber Tabla Players of Banaras Gharana.
