Gifted with a natural flair for dance, Shatabdi Mallik has blossomed into one of the finest exponents of Odissi Dance in the younger generations under Late Guru Shri Deba Prasad Das Gharana. She started learning Odissi Dance under the guidance of Guru Sri Gajendra Kumar Panda and since 1998, she is under the tutelage of Guru Sri Durga Charan Ranbir. She has been empanelled under Indian Council for Cultural Relations (ICCR) under Ministry of External Affairs, Govt. of India and Festivals of India Abroad (FOIs) under ICR, Ministry of Culture, Govt. of India. She is a graded artist of Doordarshan Kendra, Kolkata and an empanelled artist of renowned Organization, SPICMACAY for conducting Workshop and Demonstrations on Odissi Dance in different Government Schools all throughout India. A recipient of both Junior and Senior National Scholarship and Junior Research Fellowship in the field of Odissi Dance awarded by the Ministry of Culture, Govt. of India, she is the winner of the dance competition held by the West Bengal State Sangeet Academy in both Junior and Senior categories. She has received “Parampara Award-2009” from Odissi Dancers’ Forum of Kolkata, Nrutyarchana Award-2018” at Guru Deba Prasad Das Samman Utsav, “Guru Deba Prasad Yuva Pratibha Samman-2019” at Guru Deba Prasad Utsav in Bhubaneswar. She is a Gold Medalist in the field of Odissi Dance from the Eastern Zone under Prachin Kala Kendra, Chandigarh University. She has performed in various Classical Dance Festivals all throughout India like Patna, Kolkata, Jalpaiguri, Bhubaneswar, Coimbatore, Pollachi, Chennai, Guwahati, Shantiniketan, Guntur, Hyderabad, etc. Apart from this, she has also given Odissi Dance Presentations to ICCR in its Horizon Series at Kolkata, Trivandrum, Chennai and Hyderabad. Under the sponsorship of ICCR, Govt. of India along with her students, Shatabdi presented the Dance Drama “Buddha” in Nalanda University before the President of India during the 4th International Dharma Dhamma Conference and also presented Odissi Dance Recitals in different cities of Brazil like Sao Paulo, Port Allegre etc. She is having a teaching experience of 20 years in the field of Odissi Dance.
