Biodata

Sangita Roy, a combination of a flawless dancer, choreographer and teacher.

Sangita Roy was born in a culturally enriched family in West Bengal on 24th December 1988. She came from a city called Chinsurah with rich association of cultured people around. Her background was full of culture and learning. Since childhood, she was fond of dancing and her desire was to become a dancer. She has got a Bachelor's degree in Dance, Master's in Bharatanatyam Dance from Rabindra Bharati University.

At the early age of five she started learning Dance. She has been trained as a Bharatanatyam as well as a Kathak dancer. She is a combination of a flawless dancer, choreographer and teacher. She was known for her alluring creativity in choreography. She is also a good human being too.

She has won a lot of accolades and appreciation for her stunning performance.

She has amazed people with her dazzling performance in number of shows/competition like:-

1) Classical Dance Festival in Dover Lane Music Conference & Academy 2010 held from 14th to 16th September, 2010 at G.D. Birla Sabhagar, Kolkata and won Uday Shankar Memorial Challange Trophy 2010 and won Special Award for best Bharatanatyam Dancer from Sandhya Sen, the dance critic.

2) Akhil Bharatiya Sanskrutik Sangh, Pune on 30 May 2010, stood 3rd among the 2000 senior participants from India.

3) Jaychandi Festival, Purulia 2009.

4) Sunderban Festival, Canning 2009.

5) Baishakhi Festival, Orissa 2010.

6) Bakura Vidyasagar Festival, Bishnupur 2012

7) Bidhannagar Mela Festival, Kolkata 2008, 2010 and many more.

The dance critic Sandhya Sen has commented in The Statesman on her performance in Dover Lance dance Festival: - 

Sangeeta Roy, student of renowned Bharatnatyam dancer Debjani Majumdar, impressed with her kirtana and varnam interprated with ease and grace. In kirtanam the image of Jatajutadhadri Nilkantha had the touch of proper understanding of thematic gravity. Every aspect of Shiva was brought out with invigorating nrittanga designed with tyar nuances. The sbhinayanga constructed with flexible body movement mirrored agony of frustrated nayika in Krishna episode.

She has participated in Workshops like:-

2) Choreography under Jannet Lilly in Jorasanko Campus and many more
