Ramya Varma Jagdish- the founder director of Nupura Fine Arts Academy Mumbai, is an exponent of Mohiniyattam. She stepped into the beautiful world of dance at the tender age of four, and has never looked back since. She is the organiser of Nupuradhwani Dance Festival where artists from all over India and abroad showcase their talents. She is the recipient of many honorary titles - Padamavati Rashtreeya Puraskar (Jayadeva Samaroh, Bhubhaneshwar), Nritya Ratna (Girnar Mahotsa), Nritya Ankur, Nritya Shivali (Mumbai) Natya Ratna (Rasika Ranjini Sabha), Nritya Kala Ratna (Tarangini Utsav), etc. She has performed on many stages like Internation Dance Council (Athens) - World Dance Congress, Jayadeva Samaroh Bhubhaneshwar, Times Sanskriti Festival, Natyanjali festival Chennai, Navaratri fest Mookambika, Shivali fest, Bhakti Kalakhetra fest, Dussera fest, Mahatma Mahotsav Porbandar, etc are a few to name. She is a graded artist with DOORDARSHAN and has had her performances telecasted on DD on numerous occasions. She has authored a book named 'Illustrated reference book' about classical dances. She worked as a science teacher for 5 years but the passion for the arts made her leave the job to start Nupura Fine Arts Academy, which preserves and promotes the classical dances like Mohiniyattam and Bharathanatyam. She is the disciple of world renowned Guru Kalamandalam kalyani kutty Amma.
She has been a jury member for many dance competitions all over India. She has many students across Mumbai in multiple branches of Nupura Fine Arts Academy spread out throughout the city, in her noble pursuit to make these art forms accessible to everyone.
She also learnt under the tutelage of the daughters of her Guru, Natyakalaratnam Kala Vijayan and Kalashri Sreedevi Rajan.
