     Initial training under Guru  Smt Amita Datta and thereafter underGuru Smt Susmita Mishra. Takes regular training under Guru  Smt Saswati Sen and Padma        Vibhushan Pandit Birju Maharaj.

   Training on Taal & Laya under Pt. Kumar Bose and Light  Classical Music under Vidushi Dalia Rahut.                                   

     Bharatnatyam training  in Kalamandalam Kolkata,under Guru Thankomony Kutty, and Guru V. R. Venkitt.

          An A-grade Dance Artist of the Doordarshan,India, Sucharita is an empanelled artiste of the Eastern Zonal Cultural Centre (EZCC) and the Indian Council for  Cultural Relations (ICCR).

• Awarded National Scholarship followed by Jr.Fellowship in Kathak Dance by the Ministry of Culture,Government of India.

• Awarded 'SINGAR MANI' Title by Sur Singar Samsad, Mumbai

• Won top prizes and awards of excellence in various competitions organised by W.B. State Music Academy, Dover Lane Music Conference, West Bengal Dance Group Federation etc.

•Stood First class First in MA (Dance - Kathak) in the Rabindra Bharati University - GoldMedalist. 

• Awarded Doctorate (PhD) in Dance - Kathak by the Rabindra Bharati University under guidance of Dr. Mahua Mukherjeee.

Performed in many prestigious festivals abroad - in USA such as Delaware Music and Dance Concert, Hockessin festival –in South Korea such as Jeonju International Sori  Dance Festival, The 5th Nami Island International Children Book Festival, Baekje World International Dance Festival 2010-in Seoul Cultural Dance Evening organized by The Indian Embassy-in Thailand, Bangkok International Festival of Dance &Music,etc,all organized by The Indian Council For Cultural Relations( ICCR). as well as in Biswa Banga Sammelan, Performed in Kolkata & Patna Doordarshan. Plays  Durga in Mahishasur Mardini dance drama and lead heroine in Rabindranath Tagore’s dance dramas. A regular participant in all current productions of Pt. Birju Maharaj (eg, Romeo Juliet, Roopmati Bajbahadur, Hori Khela and as Krishna in Geet Govindam with Ms Saswati Sen as Radha . etc). 

  Teaching Experience;-    She has also acquired commendable experience as a Guru imparting dance lessons to her students including two who were awarded the coveted National Scholarship by the Ministry of  Culture, Govt. of India as well as a number of students winning laurels and prizes in various prestigious dance festivals and dance competitions throughout India. She has

  choreographed on Nabaras, Ashatanayika, Varsha ritu, Panchabhoot and others. Sucharita is the founder & director of   Nritya Dhrupadi Music & Dance Research Centre.

Currently, Dr. Sucharita Datta Ghata is acting as regular examiner(Practical) of the Dance Department of the Rabindra Bharati University. She is the regular examiner of Kathak dance of various organizations/Institutes,eg-Sarba Bharatiya Sangeet Parishad, Neheru Children Museum, State Rajya Yuva Sammelan, etc.
